Indian Railways opens railway ticketing counters in a phased manner

As per news reports, railway reservation counters are going to open up from May 22. Indian Railways has decided to finally reopen the counters for booking facilities. The opening of these counters will, however, happen in a phased manner, and zonal railways have reportedly been instructed to take note of this, and decide upon their opening as per the local requirements.

Piyush Goyal, the Minister of Railways and Commerce tweeted the information yesterday, further saying that the Shramik trains will continue to run with the help of the state governments.

The decision comes sometime after the Railways announced that it will be running 200 special non-ac passenger trains from June 1. As per the minister’s tweet, the opening of these railway counters will definitely help passengers across the country to book tickets easily. Now, the thing that is most important is the safety of the passengers and the practice of social distancing.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal also mentioned in his tweet that Zonal Railways need to stick to social distancing guides, and practice good hygiene at their railway premises. With this, both airports, and railway stations will now open up slowly to the public, and we can only hope that everyone adheres to the guidelines.

India has crossed one lakh cases of Coronavirus, with the number currently standing at 118501 cases, and 3585 deaths. The nation-wide lockdown is supposed to be until May 31, and any news about further lockdown has not been communicated with the public yet.
