Honeymooning Dubai-based Indian couple stranded on a dreamy island in the Maldives

A newly-wed couple Indian couple, based in Dubai, are stranded in their honeymoon destination due to COVID-19 lockdown. As per the news reports, when the couple, Ria and Rohan Bhatia, flew down to the Maldives on March 13 for their honeymoon, they had no idea that their honeymoon would be extended indefinitely.

When contacted, they told the media that everyone had been telling how lucky they were to be on an eternal honeymoon on a dreamy island of the Maldives, which also happens to have a few cases of Coronavirus. They also added that they feel like the honeymoon is long over, as they are now anxious to return home.

Apparently, this is their second honeymoon. The couple tied the knots in December last year, but unfortunately, had to cut short their honeymoon due to some family emergency. As such, they decided to fly down to the Maldives on March 13, as they wanted to take up from where they had left off during their first honeymoon four months ago.

Referring to this incident, Rohan stated that they were supposed to fly back from the Maldives to Dubai on March 20, which was a day after the flight suspensions were imposed. By the time they realised that there will be no flights after 12 noon on March 19, it was too late and they got stuck there.

With the resort suspending almost all the leisure activities due to COVID-19 scare, the couple said that there is nothing much to keep them occupied there. Referring to their stranded situation, Ria added it’s safe to say that they’re done with the beaches; they have exhausted the water sport options well before the restrictions came into place, and now are now longing for the comfort and familiarity of our country.

The couple are now appealing for help to fly back to Dubai, and said that the trip could turn into a nightmare if they are unable to return at the earliest.
