Watch drone video of newly excavated treasures from Pompeii

Pompeii’s Regio V is the latest attraction here in the old-world ruins. The excavations that have been going on for the last two years have now revealed two homes. Footage of this drone video can be seen here in the YouTube video below, which is narrated by Massimo Osanna, Director, Pompeii Archaeological Park.

The video here shows how Romans lived during the ancient days, and is a remarkable exploration of a time gone by. The discoveries include the House with the Garden, and the House of Orion, both depicting examples of fine artworks even to this day.

One of the homes that historians say was a middle-class household that has traces of an old garden, while another has a mosaic of the hunter Orion turning into a constellation. For those of us, who are unable to explore and travel amidst the coronavirus lockdown across the globe, the new video is a cause of rejoice, and of course, offers great learning to one and all.

In the video, the narrator will take you through each and every aspect of the two homes and explain what we can still see to this day. For example, the House with the Garden is of course the one where they found traces of an age-old garden, where researchers even built casts of plant roots that once grew here. Here, in this house, there is also evidence of the damage that was caused by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The remains of a total of 11 people were found here in the House of Garden.

The ancient city of Pompeii was buried under volcanic ash, and was destroyed due to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a very popular tourist attraction in Italy.
