Uttarakhand: COVID-19 negative report now must for Char Dham Yatra

New guidelines have been issued for Char Dham pilgrims. As per the latest news reports, it has now been made mandatory for Char Dham pilgrims from outside of Uttarakhand to carry a negative COVID-19 test report. This was announced by the State Tourism and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj.

As per the latest news reports, the Char Dham yatra is scheduled to start from May 14. The Minister also hinted that they might limit the number of pilgrims visiting a shrine daily.

Elaborating more on this, Maharaj stated that pilgrims coming from other states to Haridwar Maha Kumbh, as well as the Char Dham Yatra, are requested to follow the COVID-19 guidelines. He added that the government is fully prepared for the yatra, and as part of the guidelines, devotees will be required to undergo CBNAAT, TrueNaT or RT-PCR tests done before coming. Pilgrims must also register themselves online to be allowed to enter the shrines as per the shrines’ capacity, he added.

With rise in COVID-19 cases in the state, the Uttarakhand board announced that they would be canceling the class 10 Board exams, whereas class 12 exams will be postponed until further orders.

The Uttarakhand state government further issued a revised Standard Operating Procedures to prevent the spread of the COVID. Reports have it that you might now have to pay a fine of INR 500 for not wearing a mask in Uttarakhand, instead of the INR 200 earlier.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat also instructed officials to set up check posts at state borders, and not allow anybody enter the state without a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test report.
