As India continues to go through the second phase of lockdown that is supposed to end on May 3, there are talks about an extension of the same. According to reports, Punjab is the first state that has extended its lockdown beyond May 3, the extension has been done for two more weeks. In a recent announcement, the state has said that there will however be some relaxation for areas that are not in the red zones.

The Punjab government has also announced new guidelines for the next two weeks after May 3. The curfew will be relaxed in the state from 7 AM to 11 AM so that people can go on with their industrial work. Further, relaxations can be announced depending on the state of health. Punjab has registered 322 cases with at least 19 deaths due to COVID-19.

India is currently dealing with 22577 active cases of the Coronavirus, and has seen 1008 deaths in total until now. The lockdown has helped in slowing down the disease, with some states, such as Goa, Tripura, and Manipur currently free of the disease.

The Tamil Nadu government, on the other hand, has ended the complete shutdown imposed by it on Chennai, Madurai, and Coimbatore today. The complete shutdown was imposed from April 26 for four days due to a rise in cases of COVID-19 in the state. During that time, even grocery shops were shut down.

Tamil Nadu has now announced relaxation for businesses that are selling essentials.

According to reports, the state government of Tamil Nadu has announced that vendors selling essentials such as vegetables will be allowed to set up shop on April 30 from 6 AM to 5 PM. The state is returning to the lockdown as observed by the rest of India.

Regarding the extension of the lockdown, Telangana has already extended it until May 7, four days more than the nation-wide lockdown. Odisha Chief Minister, on the other hand, has asked for another month of lockdown.
