The US did not make it to the European Union’s safe travel list, which means Americans will not be allowed to travel to the European Union when its borders open on July 1. Europe has been preparing for travel, and nations opening up their borders and businesses in phases. The EU’s safe travel list includes 14 nations.

The nations that have been given the green light for travelling to the European Union are New Zealand, Tunisia, South Korea, Japan, Serbia, Morocco, Canada, Uruguay, Australia, Algeria, Georgia, Montenegro, and Thailand. The EU is trying to open up so as to help the travel sector recover from the great loss of the lockdown.

Meanwhile, the US is accompanied by Russia, Brazil, and Turkey where the containment of the virus is not up to standard. So these nations will have to wait for at least two weeks for an approval to travel to the European Union countries.

Italy, on the other hand, has opted out from this non-essential travel, and has said that their quarantine restrictions will remain in place as of now for all nations that aren’t in the free-travel Schengen area.

The European Union’s efforts went through numerous hardships as there are parts of Europe that have restricted access.

The US is still the leading country with the most number of infections. Until today, it has recorded a total of 2727853 cases and has reported 130122 deaths.
