Telangana CM extends lockdown till May 7. Here’s more about it.

While, the entire nation has been locked down till May 3 by the Central Government, the state of Telangana has now extended the lockdown till May 7 considering the worsening of COVID-19 crisis.

The Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) on April 19 announced the extension of lockdown, and also temporarily banned food businesses like Zomato and Swiggy from delivering food starting April 20. He also told landlords and landladies from collecting rent from their tenants for March, April and May months due to the financial crisis faced by several people in the state during the state lockdown.

Meanwhile, Telangana has 858 reported cases of Coronavirus infection out of which 651 patients are getting treated.

The CM has also announced that there will be no ease on the current curfew limit (7 PM to 6 AM), and no religious gathering will be permitted in the state in churches, temples and mosques. The minister also added that the state government is hoping for the situation to get better by May 1, but the stock of the situation will be taken only on May 5.

Reportedly, KCR has asked private schools to collect only tuition fee and refrain from increasing the fee for the current year. He has also disallowed marriages and other social functions in the state. As a measure to stay prepared for food contingencies, KCR has also committed to buy every food grain from the farmers.

The state government of Telangana has given the Gachchibowli stadium and sports complex, and nine acres of open land, to the Health department to be used as a medical facility for treating COVID-19. A hospital having 1500 beds will be set up on Monday at Gachchibowli stadium which will be later coverted into a permanent medical institution bearing the name Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences and Research.
