The rise in Coronavirus cases is currently causing concerns in India; the same has led to Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Department issuing fresh travel guidelines for both domestic and international passengers.
According to these new rules, business travellers do not have to do home quarantine if the trip is for 72 hours only, or less than three days. However, the state has made an e-pass mandatory for all international and domestic travellers. Only those from Puducherry, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh have been exempted from this rule.
Furthermore, according to the new guidelines, those from the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Brazil travelling to Tamil Nadu (as their final destination), must leave their samples for testing at the airport. This rule is also applicable for passengers who have tested negative for the virus at other Indian airports upon arrival.
Additionally, those from Europe and the Middle East, must submit a Self-Declaration Form on the Air Suvidha Portal before their travel to India. Such passengers are also required to submit their travel history for the last 14 days prior to arrival in the country. Also, passengers should get an RT-PCR test done, and also carry their COVID-19 test negative results. Such a test should have been conducted within the last 72 hours before departure to India.
Currently, the state has an increased number of COVID positive cases, with some deaths being reported as well. More and more states are currently issuing new guidelines in view of the rising cases.
