Belize is now open for vaccinated travellers, no COVID test required

With COVID-19 vaccine rolling out everywhere, countries across the globe are gradually reopening their doors for international tourism. In this, Belize has become the first country in the Caribbean to open its borders for vaccinated travellers; that too without any COVID-19 test report.

All the travellers need to do is show a vaccination record card at the airport. The card should have full inoculation completed at least 14 days before their arrival. The travellers must also download the Belize Health App and fill in their health information within 72 hours prior to landing in the country.

The Belize Tourism Board said in a statement, “The decision to ease the restriction on travelers who have received the COVID vaccine has been facilitated by the reduction in daily new cases across the country. Belize has been very successful in its efforts to control the transmission of COVID-19 over the past few weeks; presently, there are less than 100 active cases countrywide, and the numbers have been consistently decreasing.”

As of now, a non-vaccinated traveller travelling to Belize must carry a negative COVID-19 test report. A PCR test taken within 96 hours of travel or a rapid antigen test taken within 48 hours is being accepted by the country.

If a traveller fails to present their report, he/she will have to undergo a COVID test upon arrival at the airport at a cost of $50 (only in cash). If they test positive, they will be put under a mandatory 14-day quarantine, informed the Belize Tourism Board.
