The Grand Hotel Birmingham has announced the appointment of its new deputy general manager, Charlotte Horler.
Horler joins The Grand Hotel Birmingham after a three-year stint as deputy GM at New Hall Hotel and Spa. She has over 15 years’ experience in the hospitality sector and has served in numerous senior management roles.
Her career in hospitality began at the age of 15 at Walton Hall and Walton Hotel. Following a stint in the kitchen, Hoerler realised she belonged Front of House. She then progressed to Food and Beverage supervisor, Front Office receptionist and Front of House manager, before a role at Billesley Manor as operations manager.
She then moved to London as she was appointed as Front of House manager at The Montague on the Gardens Hotel in Bloomsbury.
From 2018, Hoerler served as deputy GM at New Hall Hotel and Spa where she was directly responsible for hotel operations with a particular focus on Front of House and Food and Beverage, managing 78 employees across teams.
Housed in one of Birmingham’s “most iconic buildings” on Colmore Row, The Grand Hotel Birmingham is a Grade II-listed building. The hotel re-opened its doors after 19 years, revealing its £50m restoration and refurbishment, to the public in May 2021.
The hotel boasts 185 rooms and suites, Madeleine, the hotel’s cocktail bar where Afternoon Tea is served, and Isaac’s, the New York-inspired brasserie-style restaurant.
Horler said: “I’m truly honoured to join The Grand Hotel Birmingham. To be working at such an iconic hotel with a talented team during an important year is a career highlight.
“Our aim is to be Birmingham’s favourite hotel and I’m very excited to lead the team operationally to cement this whilst ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional experiences and create special memories for our guests.”
Peter Kienast, GM at The Grand Hotel Birmingham, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Charlotte to The Grand Hotel Birmingham team. She brings a wealth of experience to the role as well as tangible passion for customer service.
“I’m proud to call her my deputy GM as we head into a really important year for the hotel, and the city, as we prepare to welcome the Commonwealth Games.”
