Taiwanese airline is offering Hello Kitty Father’s Day luxury flight experience to nowhere

The citizens of Taiwan missing travelling via flight, due to the restrictions on flight operations laid down to control COVID-19, have something nice to look forward to this Father’s Day.

EVA Air, a prominent airline in Taiwan, is offering a special trip on August 8, 2020, which happens to be Father Day’s, an in-flight travel experience which takes you nowhere.

Flight timings and itinerary

The flight will take off from Taipei Taoyuan Airport at 10:30 AM. The trip would be of three hours’ duration and the flight would land at the same airport. Calling it an ‘alternative travel experience’, EVA Air has designed this trip for people itching to travel. Reportedly, if the skies are clear, passengers on board the Father’s Day flight will be able to enjoy the views of Huadong coastline and Guishan Island along with other attractions.

News has it that the super famous Hello Kitty Dream jet bearing EVA Air’s special Sanrio-themed uniform will be used for this special trip.

The flight has an interesting appearance for its Sanrio characters, such as Hello Kitty, My Melody (Hello Kitty’s BFF), and Little Twin Stars’ Lala and Kiki.

What amenities to expect?

Passengers on this flight will be treated to Hello Kitty in-flight amenities, free WiFi, an inflight entertainment system and Michelin-starred inflight meal.

The main dishes can be chosen from a classic braised beef noodle dish or chirashi don (assorted sashimi over rice) made by three-Michelin-star chef Motokazu Nakamura.

Ticket price

The flight will be operated under number BR5288 as number 5288 sounds like “I love dad” in Chinese. An economy class ticket will cost TWD5288 ($180), which can further be upgraded to business class for an additional TWD1000 ($34).

Meanwhile, Taiwan has closed its borders to foreigners to check COVID-19. However, on June 24, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it would relax some entry norms taking into account the global efforts to restart economic activity.
