Slovenia restaurants get first Michelin stars

Good news for food lovers going to Slovenia, as now Michelin awards stars to Slovenia restaurants for the first time. Slovenia Michelin Star restaurants are all set to make their mark on food connoisseurs, with a fine dining restaurant named Hiša Franko in Kobarid winning two Michelin stars. In fact the restaurant’s chef, Ana Ros was named the World Best Female Chef in 2017. She is reputed for her take on dishes using local, and seasonal ingredients.

Other restaurants in Slovenia were awarded one star. These are Vila Podvin in Radovljica; Atelje in Ljubljana; Hiša Denk in Zgornja Kungota; Dam in Nova Gorica; and Pri Lojzetu in Vipava. However, none of the restaurants were able to manage the three Michelin Stars.

Slovenia restaurants get first Michelin stars

Hiša Franko, the only two Michelin Star restaurant in Slovenia is located near the Italian border, and is a world of gastronomical delight. The place is known for its unique dishes, a fresh take on food, such as fake guacamole of lovage and smoked egg; pasta filled with suckling pig; and fermented wild magnolia flowers.

According to Ana Ros, many other restaurants in Slovenia are good candidates for Michelin Stars, and this could be a remarkable new journey for food tourism in the country. The press release by Michelin called Slovenia a country that brings together various European cultures, and is a nation that is committed towards sustainable tourism.
