Mumbai airport authorities started the ‘Abbot ID Now’ COVID-19 test for flyers on December 15; to avail the express test, flyers are required to pay INR 450. It is the first airport to implement the express test method, in compliance with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which is aimed at providing quick and accurate diagnosis to passengers.

Beside the express COVID-19 test, flyers will also have the option to opt for the regular RT-PCR test. The RT-PCR Covid-19 testing facility can be availed by all domestic arriving and departing passengers at Level 10 – Departures Area. The regular test result takes around 24-48 hours for arriving passengers, whereas 8 to 10 hours for departing passengers are required, which are then sent via email. For this test, flyers are required to show Valid ID proof, and this test costs INR 850.

As per the guidelines set by the CSIMA, those testing negative will be allowed to continue their journey, whereas those testing positive will be sent to institutional quarantine in Mumbai.
