International flights continue to remain grounded in India

As guidelines for lockdown 5.0 gets released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the question about flight operations in India gets clear. India will continue to operate domestic flights, and evacuation flights, however international flights are to remain grounded. As of now, the government has not announced any date for international flights resumption.

While Vande Bharat Mission Phase 2 is underway to help stranded international passengers, these are all non-scheduled commercial flights.

According to news reports, the Minister of Civil Aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri, said in a statement that the government is yet to confirm the date on international flights. While the aviation ministry did announce the resumption of domestic flights, it has been said that international flights will resume only after India’s other transportation modes become available.

International flights continue to remain grounded in India

It was previously said that international flights will make a comeback in India in the months of August-September, and as of now, the plan remains the same. As of now the nationwide lockdown has been extended until June 30, 2020 in containment zones. The night curfew will be held from 9 pm to 5 am throughout India, but with the exception of essential services.

The aviation industry has already gone through huge losses, but thankfully domestic flights are now up and running. Hopefully with the commencement of international flights, it will allow the aviation industry to recover fully by sometime next year.
