Indian Railways cancel several trains till May 19

The railways have cancelled several trains on the Eastern and Western railway network in view of the passenger count during the ongoing lockdown in India. The railways have cut down the number of trains on several routes and even cancelled them till further notice.

The Eastern Railway has decided to cancel 10 special trains across its network, and an official circular to notify about the decision has been released by the officials.

The 10 trains cancelled by the Railways between May 19 and May 25, are train number 02201 Sealdah-Puri, 02343 Sealdah-New Jalpaiguri Special02202 Puri-Sealdah, 02261 Kolkata-Haldibari Special, 02344 New Jalpaiguri to Sealdah, 02262 Haldibari-Kolkata Special, 03181 Kolkata Silghat Special, 03063 Howrah-Badughat Special, 03182-Silghat-Kolkata Special and 03064 Balughat-Howrah Special train.

On the other hand, the Western Railway has also suspended passenger operations of 11 trains due to Cyclone Tauktae. Western Railway shared a tweet to annonce special trains including 09217 Bandra Terminus – Veraval Special will be cancelled on May 18 and 19, 2021.

The very severe cyclonic storm named Tauktae, which hit Mumbai’s and Gujarat’s coast in Saurashtra region recently has wreaked havoc. It has been predicted that that cyclone would enter Rajasthan during the night of May 18.
