India: Domestic cruise services likely to resume operations from May

The latest group to make an entry in India’s cruise industry is New York-based Sant Chatwal Group. It recently unveiled plans to start cruises as
Cordelia Cruises, which was formerly known as Jalesh cruises. Reports have it that the group will start cruises between Goa, Mumbai, Lakshadweep and Sri Lanka.

As per their authorities, they are planning to start sailing from May onwards. Reportedly, resumption of cruise services will not only help boost tourism, but will also provide employment opportunities.

Parixit Pai Fondekar, the Managing Director of Kamaxi Overseas Consultants, stated that the Cordelia Cruises has now replaced Jalesh Cruises, which will now be taking over the operations. He also added that bookings are now open, and they are planning to start sailing from the month of May.

Although the Coronavirus pandemic wrecked havoc in the tourism sector, along with the cruise industry being hit the most, sources in the know-how stated that India has just begun to test the sector now.

Fondekar, who runs a firm for cruise lines said that they are preparing the crew, their documentation and all their paperwork are now ready, fit to join the May sailing season. He added that all the staff that was working with Jalesh, will now move to Cordelia.
