Emirates to cover flyers’ COVID-19 medical and quarantine costs

In a bold move, Emirates, the largest airline in the UAE, has announced its plans to cover flyer’s all Coronavirus-related expenses to boost the confidence of passengers. The airline has pledged to take care of all the medical and quarantine costs of customers in case they get COVID-19 positive during their travel.

The emirates’ media office release read, “Emirates will cover its passengers for COVID-19 related medical expenses and quarantine costs when they travel on board Emirates, to and from the UAE and around the world, free of charge.”

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates group chairman and chief executive, took to Twitter and said, “Emirates will be the first airline to offer free cover for COVID-19 medical costs for its customers when they travel in the UAE & around the world. This will boost travel confidence & once again positions Emirates & Dubai as aviation industry leaders.”

This is one-of-its-kind initiative taken by any airline to boost the confidence of people in flying since the pandemic hit the world. The flying perk will go into immediate effect at no additional cost to its passengers and will remain valid till October 30, 2020. Another best thing is that this package will be available to all the flyers irrespective of travel class or destination.

According to the official release, if a customer tests positive for the virus, he/she can claim up to $173600 medical expenses and up to $116 every day till 14 days which will cover the quarantine cost.

The prime Dubai-based carrier has 270 wide-bodied aircraft but the flights were grounded in March because of the Coronavirus lockdown to avoid the spread of the virus.
