Couple launch travel agency to make Stokies’ holiday dreams come true

A married couple who have a passion for travel are making families’ holiday dreams come true.

Marieta and Tom Poole have started their own travel agency after taking on a Not Just Travel franchise at the end of last year.

The pair, who live in Hanley, offer everything from flight and hotel-only deals and package holidays to cruises, luxury yachts, rail journeys and staycations.

They can also create bespoke packages to suit all budgets and organise trips for special occasions such as weddings and honeymoons.

Marieta said: “I am originally from Bulgaria but I got the opportunity to travel when I left to go and work in Saudi Arabia at the age of 27, and that’s where my passion for travel really started.”

The mother-of-two – who was previously working in customer services – added: “I have been looking to get into the industry for a while now and because of covid, and the fact we had a little bit of money saved, we decided that the time was right to go for it. I spent a few weeks training in December and have hit the ground running.”

Marieta and Tom have got off to a record start after processing £40,000 worth of bookings in January alone, for popular destinations including Croatia, Turkey, USA, Spain and Dubai.

Thirty-eight-year-old Marieta said: “We are part of the Hays Travel group which means we have access to more than 400 holiday providers and can find some really great deals.

“But what makes us stand out is the fact that we research holidays for clients as if it was our holiday, and we look after them throughout the whole process – before, during and afterwards.

“We don’t just book you a holiday and then forget about you. We are always available on our mobiles and we make sure that we stay on top of the travel regulations for each country, whether that be visas or covid restrictions.

“We’re here to make planning a holiday as stress-free and easy as possible.”

Marieta runs the business on a day-to-day and Tom helps on a part-time basis while juggling a full-time job.

Marieta said: “I absolutely love this job. Eventually our aim is to bring Tom into the business to work alongside me full-time, because we both share the same love for travel.”

She added: “People tend to go to the same destination every year and my advice to everyone would be to step out of their comfort zone and go and visit different places because there’s a big wide world out there.”
