Those arriving in Assam from Bengaluru and Mumbai will now be required to produce negative RT-PCR reports from April 9. However, the passengers must have undergone the test within 72 hours of their arrival. Also, the test would be verified using a QR code or otherwise.
The Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Assam has decided to take this step to contain the spread of the COVID cases
Further, as per the Health Department’s order airlines have been directed to allow boarding to only those passengers at Mumbai and Bengaluru, who are carrying the negative RT-PCR test report.
Also, as per the order, anyone travelling from Bengaluru and Mumbai will have to undergo paid COVID -19 testing at airport at their own expense; if anybody’s test airport is found inappropriate will also have to wait in the designated location inside airport premises till their result is available
This announcement comes a day after the Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, stated that there’s no need to wear a mask as there’s no COVID in Assam.
A circular from the state health department has directed airlines coming from Mumbai and Bengaluru airports to allow boarding to only those passengers who are carrying a negative RT-PCR test report.
