Arctic’s Ice hotel reopens for winter with uniquely designed rooms

Imagine how it would feel to be living in a real ice hotel during a vacation. This is a dream come true for tourists in the form of Icehotel 31 which has resumed business operations for this winter.

Designed beautifully by 24 Swedish artists and made using 1300 ice blocks, Icehotel 31 is located 200 km north of the Arctic Circle in Jukkasjarvi.

According to the latest reports, Icehotel offers frozen beds atop reindeer hides in cool suites having below freezing temperatures. The hotel could not rope in international artists to redesign the property this year due to the ongoing pandemic. However, the USP of the hotel is that each room has been uniquely designed, and once the ice gathered from Torne River melts during spring and goes back to its source, the exiting rooms will also cease to exist. So, that’s a rare opportunity for tourists to take this experience.

The hotel features a frozen forest ceremony hall, an angled typography room, a composer suite with curated classical music, a strawberry suite having an ice sculpture of a fruit seller and much more. Reportedly, 12 rooms are ready to receive guests as of now, and the ceremony hall is also ready to organise small winter events.

News has it that to build up the existing property, the work started in the spring of year 2020 by a team of expert and technicians. They harvested massive amount of ice from the river, using special machinery to extract each of the glass-like blocks.
