Air India begins booking for domestic flyers; airlines to begin operations from May 25

Air India has finally announced the start of bookings for domestic flights. In an announcement, the civil aviation body said that they will operate a total of 8428 flights each week starting May 25 for three months.

The national carrier took to Twitter and shared the news of booking resumption. It read:

“Our Domestic Flight Bookings will start from 1230 hrs today. To book login to Air India or contact authorised travel agents or visit our booking offices or call customer care.”

In fact, all the other airlines have decided to start ticket booking for May 25 and onwards after the government’s nod to airlines to resume domestic air travel. Apart from Air India, all the other airlines have started taking bookings from today since getting the approval of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). In fact, some of the airlines started taking bookings last week only.

According to the schedule approved by DGCA, there is a list of cities one can travel to. The list currently includes the city of Chennai, however, the Tamil Nadu government is not keen on permitting domestic travel yet. But the booking has already begun for the city.

DGCA has approved following numbers of flights from each airline from 25 May and 30 June:

240 flights of AirAsia
