A five-star hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam, has reopened its doors for guests, albeit with gilded elements in its décor. The gold-plated bathtubs, wash-basins and toilets, as well as the golden exterior of the Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake Hotel have become a talk of the town these days. The hotel has reworked on its décor with the objective of luring guests and tourists back to Vietnam after the three-month-long lockdown.
Owned by Hoa Binh Group and run by US-based Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Inc, Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake Hotel looks different in comparison to the mostly dull Soviet-era buildings around.
The hotel is equipped with 24-carat gold-tiled infinity pool at the rooftop, and the guest rooms and bathrooms have also been beautified with gold. Priced at $250 per night, the hotel is one of the luxurious accommodations in Hanoi.
Duong, the owner of the hotel, who has also been a Vietnam War veteran and a taxi driver in the past, was quoted by a website as saying that about a ton of gold was sourced to give a Midas touch to the property. Now, he is also thinking of gold-plated projects at a resort in Central Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City.
So far, Vietnam has fared well in controlling the outbreak of Coronavirus, with only 350 reported cases of COVID-19 infections and no deaths.
