In the autumn of 2004 I had the crazy idea that I should quit my life and travel around the world. This notion hit me in late September, and by the first week in November I was in Europe for the beginning of what would become a nine month long journey. I didn’t give myself a lot of time to prepare, so I learned a lot of lessons the hard way! Note, be very cautious if you’re traveling during the daylight saving time or other time changing events. The reservation systems might not recognize the time change in advance and on some occasions you might need to reschedule or reroute your trip due to the lack of connection time.
And don’t miss the beautiful Arch of Constantine which sits just outside the main entrance to the Colosseum. The arch was built in 315 to commemorate Constantine the first’s victory over Maxentius. Wedding photographers with couples in tow flock to this area to get the perfect picture for photo wedding favors of the bride and groom with both the arch and the Colosseum behind them. In the photo, you can see one such couple. Can you imagine getting married in Rome? What a memorable bride and groom gift that would be! And if you just happen to be getting married in Rome, be sure to buy some Italian themed wedding favors.

Every night between about 5:00 pm and 10:00 pm, a market stretches over a kilometer on Sisavangvong Road. This is the best place to buy local handicrafts. You’ll find ceramics, textiles, antiques, artwork, food, spices, coffee, quilts, shoes, purses, clothing, and more.
The folks over at Ultimate Ears sent me a pair of their UE 700 noise-isolating headphones , which I test drove on a flight to Jamaica last weekend, and I have to say: if you’re the type of person who’s prepared to spend big bucks on big, rich sound, these are for you.
When deciding what to pay for a used camper van, you’ll need to do your research and visit the various places people use to sell an RV. There are many classified RV listing sales sites you can check both locally and online. I always like to start with a quick check on eBay. You can get a sense of the conversion van models, features and price ranges.
