IRCTC cancels Lucknow-Delhi, Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains

After restarting the operations of the fast-speed Tejas Express train about a month ago, the IRCTC has decided to cancel the operations of both Lucknow-Delhi and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains.

According to the reports, the reason behind cancellation of Tejas Express is low-occupancy by passengers due to the ongoing pandemic.

IRCTC will reconsider its decision after watching the occupancy level of other trains running in both these routes.

While, the Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas Express (Train no. 82501/82502) will remain cancelled from November 23, the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express (Train no. 82901/82902) will stay off the tracks from November 24.

Lucknow-Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express was launched on October 4, 2019, and the Ahmedabad-Mumbai-Ahmedabad on January 19, 2020. However, both the trains have remained suspended for passenger service from March 19, 2020 to put a check on the spread of Coronavirus.

As a safety measure, the IRCTC has been thermally screening all the passengers and observing other safety measures to ensure social distancing during train journeys to avoid the spread of Coronavirus.
