A Texas zoo is offering drive-thru experience this weekend

A zoo in Texas has come up with an innovative way to allow visitors amid the ongoing pandemic crisis. The San Antonio Zoo in Texas has decided to offer a drive-thru experience to the public. Though it is a temporary arrangement, the announcement has definitely made residents happy. It has given families that have been under long-time lockdown an opportunity to pack their cars and drive-thru the park.

According to the information mentioned on the zoo’s official website, visitors will be allowed inside the zoo for a limited time and they’ll be able to see a wide range of animals, including lions, tigers, and bears, all sitting inside their vehicles. They can also listen to an audio-guided tour and could also buy food and drinks throughout the park.

The President and CEO of the San Antonio Zoo, Tim Morrow said, “This new, creative way to see the zoo will be a gradual step towards our plan to reopen to foot traffic when we are given the ‘green light’ and the time is right.

He further said that this is a unique and most safe way for families to experience the zoo from the comfort of their own car. The drive-thru will definitely be a whole new experience for all while maintaining a safe social distance.

The park will charge $60 per car while the annual pass holders and monthly members of the zoo will get a special discounted price of $32 per car.

The pass holders and members of the zoo will have to show their pass and then purchase discounted tickets at the zoo only. The website also mentions that the size of the vehicle must be no larger than a full-size SUV or smaller (Max vehicle specs: 204″ L x 81″ W x 74″ H).

Also, face masks are a must for all. Masks would be essential even when people need to go out of the vehicle to use public restrooms.

Tim Morrow said, “We are now in the process of contacting some of our furloughed team members to return even before our zoo truly ‘reopens’ in the traditional sense, and that makes us very happy”.

Texas’ most favourite zoo was shut down on March 14 due to the Coronavirus situation. While visitors were disappointed, the move also took a financial toll on the zoo.
