A special railway museum in Hubballi to be open for visitors from August 5

The South Western Railway has come up with two new museums after renovating beautiful cottages dating back to the year 1907. The cottages have been divided into two parts of the museum, Malaprabha and Ghataprabha, that are the names of two prominent rivers of the region.

The Ghataprabha cottage features indoor artefacts and a model room with a running train, among other attractions. It also offers a peek into the medical and security areas of the railways. A memorabilia corner has been made for visitors to buy souvenirs. Plus, a history corner has been made for those who may be interested.

On the other hand, the Malaprabha Cottage has an art gallery where beautiful charcoal sketches have been kept. In addition, a replica of a parcel office and station master’s room are some of the highlights of this cottage.
Reportedly, a toy train made by the Rail Carriage Workshop of Hubballi is expected to become another major attraction of the museum.

Entry for visitors

The museum authorities have made a rule to allow entry to 30 persons at a time while following all the safety norms. The theatre coach will stay closed for some time. The South Western Railway will offer free entry to the public from August 5 to August 9 between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Regular working hours of the museum will resume from August 11.
